Dear Friends,
This month, our company received two noteworthy awards – one recognizing us as “Climate Action Leader” by the California Climate Action Registry. The second was being named one of 2008 “World’s Most Ethical Companies” by the Ethisphere Institute. We are proud of our values, ethics, diversity and efforts to be a responsible partner to our environment and glad to be recognized for it!
It has been a busy year for El Sobrante landfill supervisor, Nicholas Godfrey, not only did he get promoted to landfill supervisor, he also became a first time dad to son, Ronan. Nicholas came to Waste Management three years ago with a strong background in environmental science. His experience has definitely made a positive impact to our team as we maintain a strong environmental and safety record at El Sobrante.
Finally, I can’t say enough about how much we enjoy showing off our facilities to the various groups that visit El Sobrante. This month, Rancho Santiago Life Skills Class toured our facilities and the students were thrilled to meet our master falconer and his trained hawk that helps us discourage birds at the landfill.
As always, we invite you to tour our operations and to answer any questions you may have. Please don’t hesitate to contact me or Community Relations Manager Lily Quiroa at 951-277-5112.
Best,
Damon De Frates District Manager
