Our employees are the backbone of our operations and at El Sobrante, we're fortunate to have three dedicated landfill operators each who celebrated 20 years of employment with Waste Management this year.
Dave Davis worked at El Sobrante even before Waste Management took ownership of the site He is our special project expert and often moves from one task to another - one day he may be working on a storm drain project and the next he is grading the roads for our neighbors. Dave is a resident of Temescal Valley with a home in Dawson Canyon. In his free time, he is an amateur geologist and can be found exploring the canyons in search of interesting rock formations. Dave has a deep respect for nature and is our "go-to" guy any time an animal comes close to the landfill. He has relocated many rattlesnakes and possums and also has tended to a few broken wings. If you happen to run into him, make sure you ask him about how he once saved a potbelly pig from a mountain lion.
Raul Perez has resided in the Inland Empire for more than 30 years. Before joining Waste Management, he worked in the chicken farm industry and in agriculture. He heard about El Sobrante through a friend and came to work here initially as a laborer. He eventually worked his way up to his current position as a machine operator. He enjoys his time with WM and hopes to retire with the company. Raul currently lives in Perris with his wife; he has a daughter and a son and believes that he will soon be a granddad. Raul is a speed-addict and owned a hot rod when he was younger. Now, he chooses to watch racing from the sidelines. He takes personal pride in being a "jack-of-all-trades" and family and friends always turn to him when they need help. When he retires, he plans to travel throughout Mexico.
Tom Rosales has more than 23 years of landfill experience and worked at a landfill in San Bernardino County before coming to El Sobrante. Tom lives with his wife in Fontana and has two sons, a daughter and four grandchildren. He is one of our main operators. He is passionate about music, especially Mexican regional music, and plays the guitar. In fact, in his younger years, he was part of a music band complete with its own groupies. Although his friends and family members often ask him when he is going to retire, Tom still enjoys working at El Sobrante. When he eventually does retire, he plans to spend more time with his family locally and in Michigan.
