Everyone at Waste Management's North County office in Oceanside spends a lot of time working with the military and their families. There are lots of logistics to work out, with military families cycling in and out of the area. But the relationship goes much deeper. A number of our current and recent team members dedicated their lives to serving their country before joining the WM team.
“We are so impressed with the training and talent instilled in our employees who have military backgrounds and are proud to call a number of veterans part of our team,” said Ken Ryan, District Manager of Waste Management of North County in Oceanside and Coast Waste Management in Carlsbad.

Hoping to more quickly help employees or visitors in the event of a cardiac arrest, Waste Management of North County this summer installed one automated external defibrillator (AED) at each of its sites in Carlsbad and Oceanside.
As part of the installation, several employees at each site took a training course in how to operate an AED. An AED is a small, portable device that analyzes the heart’s rhythm and can deliver a defibrillation shock if it determines one is needed. Once turned on, the AED guides the user on how to operate the device by providing voice prompts to accompany the CPR already in progress.
