Spring cleaning season isn’t too far off and rather than trying to stuff all of your unwanted items into your trash cans, Waste Management of Orange County has some other options for you.

While you or your family might find certain items unusable, there are other groups who might envision a second life for them. In addition to local churches, shelters, schools or nonprofit organizations, check out Freecycle. Waste Management is a partner with Freecycle, an online network where members give away and get items for free in their own communities – rather than filling up our landfills with gently used items, find someone else in your community who could put it to good use!

For other “reuse” tips, visit our Web site at www.wmorangecounty.com.

If your items truly are destined for the trash and you’ve run out of room to dispose of these items at your home, Waste Management offers two sites in Irvine and Orange where you can bring extra trash for disposal. These sites also offer recycling options for so-called “self-hauled” loads, which keeps recyclable items out of landfills.

The facilities are located at:
    Sunset Environmental Transfer Station
    16122 Construction Circle West
    Irvine, CA 92606
    (949) 451-2600

    Orange Transfer Station
    2050 N. Glassell St.
    Orange, CA 92865
    (714) 282-0200

For information about facility hours and items accepted for disposal, visit www.wmorangecounty.com.
