We would like to express our condolences to the family and friends of Orange Councilmember Steven Ambriz. We were shocked and saddened to hear of his passing on May 25 – as a lifelong member of the Orange community, a leader, an advocate and an active volunteer, Councilmember Ambriz made countless contributions to the city and surrounding communities. This is a tremendous loss for our community.

The last bells of the school year are ringing, which means more children will be at home on weekdays when delivery or service vehicles come through your neighborhood. As a local service provider in your community, Waste Management of Orange County asks parents to talk with their children about being safe while playing outside and to ensure they watch for the company’s waste and recycling trucks from a safe distance.
While many of our trucks, particularly those that service residential neighborhoods, are equipped with cameras to see what is behind the truck, you should not rely on this feature for the driver to be able to see you or any of your possessions. It is always safest to stay away from the truck and all of its moving parts.

Usually when someone talks about recycling their clothes, they mean they’ll wear them again or perhaps donate them to someone else who would find use with them.
But to 10-year-old Alia Manetta, whose family is a Laguna Beach residential customer of Waste Management of Orange County (WMOC), recycled clothing means just that: utilizing reusable and recyclable materials from around her home, she’s created four fashionable outfits out of what might otherwise be trash.
